Having organized performance tours for three decades, I have seen great change during this time. I’m talking about a higher artistic level which has evolved all around the world. The power of music and performance at its best to transform and move people in a deeper experience can never be fully estimated. This is a reason performance should be at the forefront of cultural exchange. It is the most energizing outcome of participating in an international tour as a performer or an observer. And it is a great way to meet people around the world.

More universities and community groups are finding that running a Companion tour for Alumni & Friends parallel to performing tours embellishes their outreach needs. This is especially good for retired alumni who can savor ties to their alma mater in the ease and comfort of a group while visiting great destinations. A Companion group from Missouri State University followed the MSU Concert Chorale’s tour of Austria in May where the choir met spectacular response from Salzburg all the way through the gorgeous Lake District and breath taking mountains to Graz and Vienna.

Concept Tours has added Puerto Rico to our many destinations. The Coe College Choir just completed a January tour there. They enjoyed three joint concerts in cathedral and church settings with warm and magical results, and in a welcome sub-tropical climate contrasted with January winter in Iowa. This is a good destination for an affordable tour as are other islands, Costa Rica, and other countries in the region.

This past year we completed a second Bach’s Organ World Tour to Germany to great acclaim as noted in January 2011 issue of The American Organist of AGO. The next Bach Organ tour will run July 23 to August 3, 2012. Our Art Treasures Of Italy Tour will run again this October, from the 17th to the 28th.
